The point is, GC is not a simple viewing app but a sophisticated application that can do a lot more than just view images. I can do the same thing with Photoshop so I fail to see your point. Or use the slideshow options in the file menu, etc. Try dragging a folder to it for starters, things start looking alot more like an image browser. I suspect you just don't know what GraphicConverter is capable of. If any shareware authors are reading this, let me know if you're willing to implement this in your viewer app.
ACDSee does this under windows (and so do other freeware apps) and ACDSee for Mac can't do this. This is how I work and yet, there's not even a single Mac app that can do this extremely simple task.
And display it FAST! So I don't have to wait to see an image like I'm waiting when loading Photoshop.ģ) Allow me to use single keystrokes to cycle through the rest of the images inside that folder. shrink to fit, custom zoom level, custom region etc. Try Jview: It's free but again, not that great.įor a VERY long time I've been looking for an app that would allow me to do something that PC apps have been doing since forever:ġ) Double click on an image which resides inside a folder (of course)Ģ) Display that image fullscreen (using the prefs that I've set). And even the (bundled) TextEdit is a surprisingly powerful little word processor.ACDSee for Mac is crap. Indeed, you should probably also have OmniGraffle on their as a bundle, which is a pretty useful drawing/charting program, as well as the excellent Omnioutliner, Art Director's Toolkit, and some other stuff.īy the way, if you need cheap word processors, you'd be well-advised to look at one of Mellel () or Nisus Writer Express (if you want free, you can't go past the java port of OpenOffice, NeoOffice/J (). the software itself seems capable to do many basic things, as you mentioned no layers and plug-ins. i thought may be it is demo version as well, so when i launched it it showed that the software which came preinstalled is already egistered to apple bundle customer :). so before installing this downloded software i searched the computer and found it. the icon that appeared on the computer looked familiar to me as i spoted it few days ago. Well brad, i went to the GC website, downloaded the software and then mounted the image. I just stand by the software that I like. No, I am not being paid for this advertisement. The only limitation in the unregistered version is a nag screen and long delay at startup. :)ĭownload it () and give it a try before you buy it, of course. The people have spoken: GraphicConverter is an excellent piece of software. At VT, again, it has nearly five out of five stars for 605 reviews. GC has nearly five out of five stars for its 264 reviews at. The only noticeable advantages that Photoshop offers are the ability to work in layers and the host of included plug-in filters. Believe me, though, that $35 is chump change for all that you'll be getting! I have Photoshop, but I use GraphicConverter far more often for most of my quick work. It is shareware and will set you back a mere $35. The next best thing would have to be GraphicConverter ().
If it doesn't, you can either install it from your original CDs or download it here from ().
Your copy of Mac OS X should come with X11.
